  • ED LITTLEFIELD AT FAWN MT.

In support of their efforts to promote community arts, Fawn Mountain applied for and was awarded an Artist-in-Residence grant by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. Edward Littlefield, a professional percussionist and prominent music educator in the Northwest, will work with all Fawn Mountain students and teachers for two weeks in May. The students will learn traditional Tlingit melodies and language, which will then be used as the foundation for creating new music based on the students own experiences. They will be able to tell their own stories through lyrics, movement and music. In addition to several school assemblies, Mr. Littlefield will conduct a special performance with the Fawn Mountain Fifth Grade students at the Saxman Tribal House on May 19 at 6:00pm. While he is in Ketchikan, Mr. Littlefield is available for private drum/percussion lessons. He can be contacted through his website, edlittlefield.com. Fawn Mountain gratefully acknowledges their PTA who is providing additional financial support and the Cedars Lodge who is donating lodging for Mr. Littlefield.

  • After School Activities and Supervision

Just a reminder that we do not have after school care for students.  Several families have requested that their students wait at school in order to participate in after school activities. Student safety is our first concern and we do not have after school supervision. Students need to go home unless you have made arrangements for appropriate supervision.
