Everyone in our community is affected by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome either directly or indirectly. You are invited to join Tlingit speaker, Morgan Fawcett, as he shares his story about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder on Sunday, February 19, from 5-7 at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. A renowned Native American flute player, he will share his music and his message that those with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can use music as a healing alternative to alcohol. The Elizabeth Peratrovich Family Celebration Day on February 11th, hosted by Alaska Native Brotherhood and Sisterhood, began with the "Welcome Song" by Fawn Mountain preschool students. We are thrilled that Evon will be working with our students to become Professional Illustrators! Our students attended an assembly today to learn how Evon does her work as an artist and each student will have an opportunity to create an illustration with Evon's help in the coming weeks.

In order to participate in the new service, you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone. The process is simiple and only takes a few seconds to complete. Preschool screening packets are now available online and in our office. Please complete the three forms found when you click the headline above and return them to the office February 1, 2017. Your application must include a copy of your student's immunization record and birth certificate to be complete. Screening will take place April 5, 6, 7. Preschool classes will not be held on those dates. Thank you, and we look forward to screening your child soon.
The Chief Petty Officers' Association presented Mr. Escalante a check from the proceeds of the Haunted Mansion this past October. The money will help Fawn Mountain students learn about growing one's own food in an environmentally friendly way. Many thanks to our friends at the Coast Guard Base Ketchikan. We are excited about our plans to build a greenhouse and we thank everyone for their support!
Breakfast is free for all students every day! Breakfast is served from 8:30 until 8:50 when school begins. If you would like to donate to our food closet, we welcome non-perishable (nut free) food items to serve. Thank you!
Our new math program has a free app that can be downloaded on a smart phone, iPAD or iPOD. The app is called "Bounce Pages." It downloads within seconds and has 3 easy steps for getting help. The app scans the homework page and then pulls up an instructional video. Go to the App Store and download it now for math help in the comfort of your own home!
